Abstract

This article describes the experience of developing and testing a free sofware tool designed to help the people with motor disabilities to handle the computer mouse pointer. This kind of software commonly known as ʺheadtrackerʺ is based on the computational interpretation of head movements captured by a conventional low cost webcam, and many other image capture devices. The basis of the initial software design are described, as well as the changes and improvements added because of the experiences and observations during the field work with disabled people within the educational environment.
