I enjoy living a very diverse neighborhood and I have never felt unsafe in my own home.I will always love Joliet because I grew up here and I have so many memories here. There really isn't much here, but there is still something that makes Joliet feel like home.It is a big city with lots to do. I really enjoy the unique food, the amazing architecture of the homes, and the public school system! Joliet itself is really all apart of the east side of I-55 and further. grew up here and it has only gotten worse. It is very calm and there are not many places to go and have tons of fun. What used to be considered the nice part of town is now going downhill.I completely enjoy the area I am living in. Although it increased our commute to almost an hour; it was well worth it.Joliet is a very historic city with lots of historic landmarks. Shootings are almost a daily occurrence. It's a nice place to live around that's simple and that's not to much but not to little. But still close enough to Chicago. Visitors are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather conditions and wear comfortable, closed-toe footwear conducive to walking. Please It is hard to get places due to all the road construction. As tour site encompasses approximately eight acres, a substantial amount of walking is required. Those requiring special accommodations are requested to 421 Restaurants within 5 miles. Many restaurants to chose from and traffic isn't terrible.
The west side is decent not including the housing projects right across the river.
I wouldn’t recommend moving to Joliet unless you are moving to the part of “Joliet” that is on the west side of I-55 close the Plainfield South High School.
It is also nice how you don´t have to drive miles to get to the nearest store.Joliet is about a 45 minute drive from Chicago (without traffic) and the metra train is close by!
