Rated the #302 best film of 2019. The message is: grass is greener on the other side, and you should appreciate what you have. This short teach us all an important lesson of life, even if it is simple, but just as a reminder that we're on this earth to enjoy everything we possibly can. The latter also results in the most frequent running gag in this movie, namely the voyeurism component coming into play and the two not so passionate protagonists keep watching what the neighbors are doing.
The camera sees and chronicles things that the naked eye ignores, or maybe chooses to deny. Starring: Maria Dizzia. But it also makes you want to hold onto the people who matter, very very tightly, for life as we know it can be fleeting at best. This year’s winner of the best short film in the Live Action category at the Oscars, The Neighbors’ Window, is a 20-minute life lesson on why we should count our blessings. First off, this was the weakest Oscar short this year, so that likely contributes to my "meh" reaction to it.

They certainly wish they could be a bit like them again. Think Rear Window, but less thriller-ish. Beautifully crafted. Amazing direction, simple, but impactful, as well as the well-written-story itself portrayed by amazing actors. Was this review helpful?

They live a fairly humdrum life until they notice a young couple move into an adjacent building. The Neighbors’ Window rating: 4 stars. The couple across the street is a looming presence, and even though we don’t see them up close, their shenanigans are very much part of the narrative. And while many details are missing from the film, like we don’t know what Alli does, or what her husband’s name is, it doesn’t really matter. That’s why The Neighbors’ Window is a must watch, because it makes a very valid point without the melodrama. As we find out about them, we also find out that there is an apartment nearby that has new tenants (D'Onofrio fans will understand the Oscar-related reference) and they are the exact opposite. But it also makes you want to hold onto the people who matter, very very tightly, for life as we know it can be fleeting at best.

"Count your blessings"! On one hand, it summarizes life pretty well, one minute you're having crazy wild sex not caring if the whole world is watching and then you blink and voilá, have kids, a house to pay, and your life becames monotonous and boring and it seems you're just waiting for death to arrive. Every parent with young kids has been there. "The Neighbors' Window" is an English-language live action short film from 2019 that runs for slightly over 20 minutes and took home the Oscar last night.
